Peconic Bay Wedding

Yes, Rachel and Ryan are amazing!  I had the absolute pleasure of photographing their special day on a gorgeous September afternoon.  With a big storm rapidly making its way up the coast, the skies were filled with billowing clouds, gradually becoming deep shades of blue/gray as the day went on, with the rain holding off until guests were cozy beneath the tent.  And when the rain did come…well…magic.

Rachel and Ryan met while working at the acclaimed North Fork Table and Inn where Ryan worked as soux chef to beloved late Chef Gerry Hayden, and Rachel alongside renowned pastry Chef Claudia Fleming.  It was kismet.  Since then, the two young entrepreneurs ventured off and began their own respective businesses.  Rachel makes my most favorite desserts for weddings, Rachel Cronemeyer Cakes & Confections, while also teaching at culinary school, and Ryan partnered with a long time friend on a catering business, Creative Courses Catering, and a North Fork restaurant/cafe (coming soon).  I’m not quite sure how they managed to do all of their own food and dessert for a nearly 300 guest wedding and still manage to be as totally laid back as they were!  Perhaps it was beginning as they did, sharing a private moment together for their “first look,” followed by a walk with their dog, and a visit to one of Ryan’s favorite fishing spots.  Once we finished family photos, the shoes came off and remained off for the rest of the day.  I love these two!  The seaside ceremony was framed by two fishing poles, a brilliant an elegant entryway, and intro to a “theme.”  All of the boutonniers were hand-tied flies by the groom himself and the flower girls & ring bearers carried tiny fishing rods down the aisle.  Beneath a driftwood arbor the happy couple exchanged their vows and went on to enjoy the evening with friends and family.  Thanks to Mattituck Florist, the bouquets perfectly complimented the bride’s gorgeous Sarah Seven dress and the pale pink chiffon bridemaids dresses.  This wedding was “the perfect storm” of all good things.  Please enjoy a small selection of images from Rachel & Ryan’s day!
